Staff Information

Tapawingo Trails Camp aims to provide a fun and nurturing environment where teens and young women can develop real-life skills including the ability to work on a team, organization, management and leadership skills.

Camp Dates

Week 1:

Staff arrival: Friday, August 2nd at 3pm to participate in training days

Camp Days: Sunday, August 4- Saturday, August 10

Week 2:

Staff arrival: Saturday, August 10th at 11am to participate in training days

Camp Days: Sunday, August 11th - Saturday, August 17th

Applying for a Staff Position

1) Complete the Staff Application Form 

2) You will be contacted for a Staff Interview

3) Attend a staff LEAP Training Weekend in Calgary, AB: May 31-June 2

    

Positions  

There are a variety of staff positions available each summer including:

  • Counsellors and Counsellors-in-Training

  • LIT Counsellors and LIT Counsellor-In-Training

  • Support Staff: Crafts, Drama, Sports, Water, Groundskeeper

    • (Leaders & Assistants for each category)

  • Cooks - Head & Assistant Cooks

  • Lifeguard

  • Kitchen Helper

  • Camp Nurse

Ages
  • Counsellors - must be 17-yrs old by July 31st, 2024

  • Counsellors-in-Training - must be 15-yrs old by July 31st, 2024

  • Crafts, Drama, Sports, Water, Groundskeeper - must be 15-yrs old by July 31st, 2024

  • Cook - must be 18-yrs+ old by July 31st, 2024

  • Lifeguard* - must be 15-yrs old by July 31st, 2024

  • Kitchen Helper - must be 15-yrs old by July 31st, 2024

*Additional Lifeguard Requirements:  Must have experience guarding and teaching swimming lessons. Current Standard First Aid & CPR certification, minimum Current Lifesaving NL certificate.  Completion or willingness to complete the Waterfront NL course.  Current swimming instructor certificate (Red Cross program) an asset. Current Lifesaving Society instructor certificate an asset.

Staff Applications close on Sunday, May 14th so don't delay!

When will I be notified about staff interviews?

Camp Directors will be contacting Applicants by email to schedule interviews.

What is the cost for staff to apply for camp?

We welcome staff at NO charge, and you get a t-shirt! However, there is a $50 fee to attend LEAP training which happens on a weekend prior to camp. This fee helps pay for food and supplies. 

Is there compensation for being a staff member?

All camp leadership positions will be given an honorarium of $125 or service hours for school projects. Counsellors-in-Training and Assistants may also receive service hours.

Can Tapawingo Camp accommodate special diets? 

In cooperation with the staff member, special diet requests will be assessed and accommodated on an individual basis.
